Not a lot to read in this post. Four short paragraphs, two pictures and three links.
I saw this bicycle with buckets chained to a bike rack and thought this bucket idea was ingenious! The owner showed up, and explained how he did it. I asked if I could take pictures and he said, “Okay”.
The middle bucket is clamped to the head tube with a U-bolt and a Bungee cord. All buckets are removable and the second and third bucket is held on to the main bucket with two hand sized short bolts and four nuts, and Bungee Cords. The second nut on each bolt keeps the nut tightly on the bolt. As an added feature, one or both side buckets may be removed easily when not required.
Someone with a $10k racing bike would not be caught dead sporting five gallon buckets on their bike, though I think for most of us who need to haul groceries, and other items too big to fit in a pocket or small bag, this DYI Bicycle Saddle Bag system is excellent!
Of course if five gallon buckets are larger than you need, smaller buckets can be used instead.
