I receive a lot of hits and comments on this blog from commercial websites, e.g. businesses that apparently use this blog as an example of how not to do Search Engine Optimization.
Here is a quote from “Website Search Engine Land” who take the time to gracefully and simply define what SEO is:
“What Is SEO / Search Engine Optimization?
SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines.”
I suggest you check out the site which seems very thorough and complete and should get you headed in the right direction.
I have written before that once upon a time, blogs were for writing and sharing information, nothing more and nothing less. If you wish point your browser to almost any website or ‘blog’ and count the number of advertisements clamoring for your attention. Go to several pseudo blogs and count how many seconds on average it takes before a pop up demands you subscribe.
This blog is is a little backwater website that doesn’t even bother following proper blogging fundamentals, let alone any halfway serious SEO procedures. When there is no product to promote there exists the freedom to write about whatever is on my mind in the moment.
I receive several comments each week about how someone stumbled upon this blog and they really could help me with SEO. I would ask, “What were you doing that you “somehow stumbled” upon this site?
I enjoy reading blogs where people are trying to share their ideas or make a point. When a website is heavily commercialized my first click is closing the tab. Ymmv of course.
In the words of the famous Forrest Gump, ‘that is about all I can say about that.’ Alltop and other reading sites are waiting for my attention.
By way of information, at the time I created this page, the term, “SEO Fundamentals” returned: ‘About 1,000,000 results (0.28 seconds)’. There must be a number of ways to do SEO along with a sizable number of SEO experts?
